Mini minced beef and veg pasties

INGREDIENTS:
  • Short crust pastry mix (we bought this packet at netto)
  • 275g minced beef
  • 1 large potato diced small
  • 1 large carrot diced small
  • 1 medium onion diced small
  • vegetable stock cube
  • chicken gravy granules
  • salt and pepper

 Dice your carrot, potato and onion really small, put in a pan and cover with water. Bring the pan to the boil and add the veg stock cube. Cook until soft.

Put minced beef into a frying pan (no oil) and cook slowly until brown and separated.
Drain the vegetabled and add to the mince. Stir together and add a sprinkling of the chicken gravy granules… just to coat the meat (NOT to make a gravy).

Cook for another 5 minutes in the pan and put aside to cool.

Eaten here with baked beans and potato/ cabbage cakes
Make pastry as instructed on packet. (or make your own)
Roll pastry out flat and about 4mm thick. Cut 4inch circles out (or what ever round mug sized thing you can get your hands on) and individually roll them thinner to your desired thickness.
Add a tablespoon of the filling, dampen the edges of the pastry with milk and pinch to close.
Bake in a preheated oven on a baking tray Gas mark 5 for about 25 minutes or until golden brown. (we brushed with milk just to colour the pastry)
