Another cheap and easy weeks wartime menu

If you havent already read my post ‘Let me introduce you to my larder’ please click the link and give it a browse… it basically lists the items we have in the freezer, fridge, cupboards etc.

Its easier for me now 5 months on to draw up an inexpensive rationing shopping list and post out a menu… we’ve had the practice… but… its easier for you to see how we do it and what we’re doing it with if you have a peek into our kitchen. Just a few bits to bear in mind before you read this week menu. 🙂 Oh… before i forget… the actual list of items i buy on tuesday (shopping day) with be posted on tuesday aftern evening, you’ll then get a complete idea of what we actually used out the freezer/fridge/ larder and what we still had to buy.

Sunday

  • Breakfast: Bacon and egg tartlets… no doubt with hot buttered toast

Monday

  • Breakfast: Porridge or cornflakes…. Whatever’s left
  • Lunch: Home made tomato soup… a small break from leftovers… that said any leftover soup I’ll freeze either to have later in the week or as a base for spaghetti bolognaise… or strained as a topper to a crafty jacket potato.
  • Evening meal: if I can get it rabbit… if not then bacon, potato and onion pasties with carrots, and baked beans
  • After dinner treat: Prune roly poly (no eggs required)
